Delays and cancellations frustrates football fans and football fantasy players as bad weather in parts of the US affect air travel

FORT LAUDERDALE-HOLLYWOOD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, FLA.—There were problems with travel for passengers both in the Niagara area and other international airports across the United States, after a computer software problem caused a delay in operations at what is considered the busiest travel season.

For passengers desiring to travel on this Sunday, there was nothing to do other than to wait.

“I think this was the busiest day at the airport today.”

Heather said she dealt with delays, but her trip was manageable.

“I was supposed to be boarding at 3, and when I got to the airport, they moved my flight up to 4 and then went back for me to board at 5,” she said. “Everything was out of whack.”

Meanwhile, traveler Andrew Kene came to BCL.

“Welcome home, buddy.” Kene said to his dog.

Kene says he’s fine with his half hour delay in Chicago.

He added, “Nowadays I’ll take it.”

According to his doctor, given the stress of Thanksgiving weekend, he should avoid traveling.

It was quite an opposite situation at FLL on Saturday. People had a much smoother check-in process than last time.

“It was crazy when we boarded the flight, since the airport was so packed. I started crowing with joy, heading into a distant place,” said Sean Foley.

Yesterday, it snowed in Minnesota, and on Saturday, the temperature reached 26 degrees Celsius. As such, hundreds if not thousands of flights were delayed, with at least 59 flights canceled, according to FlightAware. In addition, some airlines were forced to cancel.

“According to the Houston Chronicle newspaper, when we left Florida, we had heard the same thing. We had forecasts all the way from 150,000 passengers to zero,” said the passenger. In fact, the airport was easy to get into and out of.

The weather had not made it easy everywhere else in the country. A large storm was sweeping across the Midwest, Northeast, and South. Other systems were currently threatening to make for a taxing end to the Thanksgiving weekend.

"I definitely saw more people when I was traveling last week during this time period here."
